Since launching my Stealth Login Page plugin on April Fool’s Day (I know, I should have waited until Tuesday), I’ve been Rickrollling would-be hackers. Because you can enter any URL you want into the redirect field, you can send them Rick Astley’s way when they don’t enter your login string correctly.
I’ve been Rickrolled myself a number of times and it’s annoying as heck when my headphones are jacked to the max… on MY OWN site!
Here’s how:
- Download Stealth Login Page from the repository or directly in your dashboard.
- Activate the plugin.
- Click the Settings link to set up the Rickroll.
- Once on the settings page, enter
http://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?t=2m6s
as the URL for the redirect. - Enter your answer and question phrases.
- Be sure to e-mail yourself the new login URL so you can always get back in without getting Rickrolled.
- Click the Save Settings button.
Now go Rickroll some bad dudes.

That’s awesome. I love it! …and if you forget to enter your long string, just close your eyes and enjoy what you get.

Definitely! I forgot who suggested I Rickroll them the first time, but Austin pushed me to publicize the fun that can be had.

I support any such activities of the sort, Ben. The song must live on!

And the good news is if one of your other users or friends happens to put in the wrong URL it’s not too harsh of a punishment. Painful but not gross. Great plugin!

Thanks. I could see people getting pretty creative with this. I’m probably going to change my URL to the full-screen embedded video link so it’s not preceded w/ an ad. I’ll change the post accordingly.

Rickrollin FTW! I entered Google as my redirect URL and have to remind myself why I keep getting redirected there… Think I need to up the ante, Astley style. 🙂

I just got locked out of one of my lesser used sites until I searched my inbox for the custom URL I sent myself using the settings page.

You’ll have to edit the database or disable the plugin via FTP per the FAQ on the repository.

Excellent plugin, use it my site. I did one day attempt to access my site and I forgot my password and the Forgot password link does not work – Any way to rectify this?
